on becoming a te reo speaking nation…

Yesterday the announcement of the successful application of my Marsden application to study and investigate Maori relationships with the normalizing of te reo Maori was made. The study is triggered by my own and other people’s reactions to Maori ability to access te reo Maori and the increasing Pakeha consumption of Te Reo Maori.

My anxiety has elevated.

This is the first of a series of writings about these anxieties. Over the next three years I will capture my personal journey alongside of this study. I will use this platform as a reflection space to document and release my own emotions, feelings about New Zealand becoming a te reo Maori nation. And maybe as I unpack my own insecurities these writings might provide an outlet for others who feel the same.

let us begin ….
